Fastest lap is highlighted green, slowest red (once you have at least two laps).

What is the Stopwatch with Laps?

A precise, no-fuss stopwatch that measures time down to the hundredth of a second and records unlimited lap splits. Press Start and the display runs; press Lap at any moment to capture a split without stopping the clock. Every lap is logged in a table with its number, the lap time, and the total elapsed time — and the fastest lap is highlighted green while the slowest is highlighted red, so patterns jump out instantly.

How to use it

  1. Press Start to begin timing. The button becomes Pause so you can freeze the clock.
  2. Press Lap whenever you want to mark a split — running, cooking steps, experiment stages.
  3. Watch the lap table fill up, with your fastest and slowest laps highlighted automatically.
  4. Press Reset to clear everything back to zero.

Understanding lap times

Each row shows two numbers: the lap time (how long that segment took) and the total (time since you pressed Start). The fastest and slowest highlights compare lap times against each other, which makes it easy to spot your best segment or where you lost time. Highlights appear once you have recorded at least two laps.

Good uses

Private by design

The stopwatch runs entirely in your browser with no account and no data collection. Refreshing the page resets it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How accurate is the stopwatch?
It displays hundredths of a second and measures with your device's high-resolution timer, which is precise to a fraction of a millisecond. The display updates with requestAnimationFrame for smooth rendering.
What is the difference between lap time and total?
Lap time is the duration of that single segment — the time since your previous lap. Total is the time elapsed since you first pressed Start. Both are shown for every lap.
How many laps can I record?
There is no limit. The table grows as you add laps, and the fastest/slowest highlights keep updating automatically.
Does it work if I switch tabs?
Yes — timing is based on your device clock, so the elapsed time stays correct even in a background tab. The display simply refreshes when you return.
Is my timing data saved?
No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored. Reset or refresh to start over.
